I can just imagine that I am sitting on a beach in St. Thomas staring off into the horizon with a Frozen Banana Daiquiri in hand. It will be sunset soon, my favorite time of the day, and I am daydreaming about what the future holds. Will I remain in paradise and spend my days typing away describing my latest refreshing umbrella drink that was just delivered by cute cabana boys?

No, I will be in the Arizona desert creating frozen rum drinks to try and cool off!!

Do you have to blend a Frozen Banana Daiquiri?

Traditional Daiquiris are not blended, they are simply stirred like a martini. I am a blender girl, I like creamy, dreamy drinks that the guys would never be caught dead ordering, lol.

Thankfully a British sea captain by the name of George Soule created the Frozen Banana Daiquiri in 1953 ago at St. Thomas’ Mountaintop Bar in the U.S. Virgin Islands…..with me in mind, I’m sure!

What type of rum is used to make a frozen daiquiri?

Bacardi Superior White Rum is the perfect choice for most cocktails. It is available just about everywhere and it is not overly expensive. My second choice would be a good quality rum from St. Thomas, like Botany Bay Rum.

How to make a Frozen Banana Daiquiri

Add the crushed ice, sugar, white rum, orange liqueur (Cointreau/Triple Sec), lime juice and a banana into a blender.

Puree until smooth. Pour into a tall cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry for a traditional look. I added a lime wedge and umbrella to remind me of cool, salty breezes, crystal blue waters, and warm sand between my toes…..where I wish I was sitting right now.

Not too sweet, not too tart, just a perfect combination of refreshing and frothy goodness in a glass…..with a cute umbrella, of course. 😉 Goldilocks would definitely approve!

Recipe Notes & Tips

I don’t like my smoothies diluted by too many melting ice cubes, so I freeze my bananas. Just toss them in to the freezer until ready to use, then slice and place in the blender.

  1. I do like an occasional drink, but don’t like the powder mixes.

I love your fresh recipes. Once you have a fresh drink, you get spoiled and never want a powdered one again.

My signature drink is a Mojito. I only make them during the summer months when I have fresh mint.

I love a good daiquiri and banana sounds even better!! The hubby and I always throw a banana into our strawberry daiquiris and it adds just the right amount of banana flavor. 4. You sure know how to make and photograph a cocktail! These banana daiquiris looks incredible, as do all of your drinks! I think the hardest part will be choosing just one (or two, ok, maybe three) to make this weekend.
